About The Position

Saint Luke's South Hospital is seeking a part-time Lab Support Tech to join our team! This role involves collecting patient samples using best practices for phlebotomy, documenting receipt of patient samples in the Lab Information System (LIS), and preparing them for analysis. The position is part-time, requiring two twelve-hour shifts per week (Thursdays and Fridays, 0600-1830), with opportunities to pick up extra hours as needed. Responsibilities include collecting patient specimens in accordance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards, correlating patient samples to provider laboratory test orders in the LIS/EMR, performing and reporting Point of Care laboratory testing, and using education and experience to identify and resolve patient circumstances that might interfere with accurate sample collection. Effective communication with nursing and unit staff regarding patient collections is also essential.

• Less than 1 year of applicable experience.

Responsibilities

• Communicates effectively with nursing and unit staff to relay information concerning patient collections.
