About The Position

A Lab Support Technician I (sometimes called a laboratory assistant or specimen processor) plays an entry-level role in keeping a medical or diagnostic lab running smoothly. The focus is less on testing itself and more on handling samples and supporting lab operations. This position provides comprehensive support for patient care activities in the Core Lab. This position works under the supervision of the section Supervisor and Senior Tech. This position's schedule could change due to staffing issues with a two week notice.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or formal education equivalent.
  • Persons must have proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.
  • Annual TB Screening, Criminal Background Check, Substance Abuse Testing
  • Constant Physical Activity: Feeling, Grasping, Manipulate items with fingers, including keyboarding, Reaching
  • Frequent Physical Activity: Hearing, Sitting, Standing, Talking, Walking
  • Occasional Physical Activity: Crouching, Kneeling, Lifting, Pulling, Pushing, Stooping

Responsibilities

  • Verifies that all specimens are properly ordered, labeled and collected before delivering to the performing department for testing.
  • Perform other duties as needed
