About The Position

The Lab Support Technician (LST) I is part of the provider care team acting in a support capacity for reports, data and scheduling functions of the laboratory. This position is responsible for providing accurate, timely and effective provision of laboratory support. The LST I will be required to exhibit excellent customer service skills in line with the Mercy Signature Service with all internal and external customer interactions. The LST I is responsible as required for the skillful acquisition of laboratory specimens for testing, utilizing safe, accurate, effective, professional methodologies while observing HIPAA confidentiality requirements and lab policies. The LST I will be responsible for all processing, transport and referral of all types of laboratory specimens and reports as required. In order for the co-worker to achieve the competencies of the LST I position they must be observed by laboratory management or designee and complete all departmental checklists for the LST I position. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of the probationary period.
  • No active disciplinary actions or performance improvement plans.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Skillfully obtain laboratory specimens using safe, accurate, and professional collection techniques.
  • Ensure patient comfort and provide exceptional customer service during specimen collection.
  • Maintain strict compliance with HIPAA regulations and laboratory confidentiality standards.
  • Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Process, label, transport, and refer laboratory specimens according to established procedures.
  • Support laboratory reporting, data entry, and scheduling functions.
  • Ensure timely and accurate handling of specimens and laboratory documentation.
  • Assist in maintaining efficient laboratory workflow and operations.
  • Provide outstanding service to patients, providers, coworkers, and external customers.
