Legend Biotech is seeking a Lab Support Specialist as part of the Research & Development team based in Somerset, NJ. Role Overview The Lab Support Specialist supports daily laboratory operations by managing samples, equipment, records, inventory, and supplies while assisting scientists and laboratory staff with testing activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to SOPs, safety/EHS, and regulatory requirements, and accurate documentation to maintain an audit-ready laboratory environment.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in biology, Chemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous laboratory or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety practices.
  • Familiarity with LIMS and Microsoft Office preferred.
  • Ability to follow SOPs and safety regulations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to follow SOPs, safety regulations, EHS guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Accurate specimen handling, tracking, and recordkeeping.
  • Effective time management, multitasking, and prioritization.
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Basic computer, Microsoft Office, LIMS, and data entry skills.
  • Work in a clinical, research, pharmaceutical, or diagnostic laboratory.
  • May require standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
  • May involve handling biological specimens and hazardous materials following safety guidelines.
  • Weekend work may be required, up to 10% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Receive, process, track, and document samples in LIMS.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, software, IT systems, and LIMS readiness.
  • Manage supplies, reagents, chemicals, ordering, and supply forecasting.
  • Support SOP compliance, audit readiness, EHS standards, and waste management.
  • Coordinate with Biosample Management, warehouse teams, scientists, and lab staff.
  • Support sample receipt, labeling, logging, processing, testing setup, chain of custody/identity, and LIMS documentation.
  • Coordinate with Biosample Management and warehouse teams for patient sample handling, shipments, inventory tracking, and documentation.
  • Operate, clean, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory equipment, reagents, software, IT systems, LIMS, and network setups.
  • Manage inventory of supplies, reagents, chemicals, and consumables; support ordering and forecasting to prevent operational delays.
  • Maintain an audit-ready laboratory by following SOPs and applicable quality, safety, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support safety protocols, chemical and biohazard waste management, lab cleanliness, organization, and biohazard control.
  • Assist scientists and laboratory staff with routine lab activities, reagent preparation, testing support, data recording, discrepancy reporting, and issue escalation.
