About The Position

The Lab Support Assistant II sorts through discarded waste from Specimen Processing area identifying biological specimens. The incumbent actively supports and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Requirements

Physical activity: stooping; kneeling; crouching; reaching; pushing; pulling; lifting; fingering; grasping; feeling.
Light work (exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally to move objects); visual acuity; exposure to biological specimens, biohazard materials and chemicals.
Proper specimen handling techniques.
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal courteously and effectively with supervisors and co-workers.
Attention to detail.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
High School Diploma or Equivalent (Required)

Responsibilities

Collects all discarded waste from Specimen Processing.
Sorts through all discarded waste consisting of paper and biological material.
Delivers any biological specimen to Lab Support Supervisor.
Rebags and disposes all sorted waste appropriately.
Adheres to all established laboratory safety requirements.
Required to use (a) personal protective equipment, (b) engineering controls and/or work practice controls as directed by management.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned by competent authority.
