About The Position

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking a Lab Supervisor for their Cell Lab in Middleton, Wisconsin. This is a fully onsite, first shift (Tuesday - Saturday) position. The role involves coordinating staffing and resources, supporting daily workflows, and assisting in the implementation of company policies and quality systems. The Lab Supervisor ensures projects are completed on time to meet revenue goals and client satisfaction, while also focusing on staff development. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5+ years) or equivalent and relevant combination of education, training, & experience.
  • 1+ year demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Must be able to pass a comprehensive background check, which includes a drug screening.
  • Demonstrated proficiency of good organizational skills with the ability to adapt and adjust to changing priorities and to manage multiple assignments with challenging deadlines.
  • Proven leadership skills.
  • Ability to train and mentor junior staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to be project solution driven.
  • Good written and oral communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • Can independently perform root cause analysis.
  • Technical writing skills; ability to write quality documents (SOPs, investigation forms, etc.).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of QA metrics of program base; ability to write and recommend changes to PPD SOPs.
  • Project and time management skills.
  • Able to communicate, receive, and understand information and ideas with diverse groups of people in a comprehensible and reasonable manner.
  • Able to work upright and stationary and/or standing for typical working hours.
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 25 pounds.
  • Able to work in non-traditional work environments.
  • Able to use and learn standard office equipment and technology with proficiency.
  • Able to perform successfully under pressure while prioritizing and handling multiple projects or activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate staffing and resources.
  • Support day-to-day workflows.
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of company policies, quality systems, and training programs.
  • Ensure projects are completed in a timely manner to meet company revenues and client satisfaction.
  • Ensure staff are developed to keep pace with department goals and growth.
  • Supervise daily activities of staff, including interviewing, selection, hiring, professional development, performance management, and approving time records, leave requests, and overtime.
  • Manage daily workflow, allocate resources, and track performance metrics.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with quality standards, investigate and resolve complex problems through root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Respond to facility audit findings.
  • Assist management in their responsibilities.
  • Assist in preparation and implementation of PPD/client SOPs and company operational policies.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs, safety standards, and company policies.
