The Supervisor Lab – Sections coordinates all activities of technical and/or non-technical functions of the department under the supervision of the department Manager/Director. Maintains specified medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair. Responsible for overall productivity, service, and staff development with technical laboratory personnel. Maintains quality results by participating in the laboratory quality assurance program; consulting with Laboratory Manager/Director; performing proficiency surveys; reviewing quality control and quality assurance programs; maintaining records within section scope. Maintains pre analytical variation which includes accessioning, specimen processing, and reviews policies and procedures for responsible section of the Laboratory. Maintains state of readiness for accreditation inspections with College of American Pathologists (CAP), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), licensing for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Ensures section is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Monitoring reports for the section’s identified quality assurance program’s metrics, including but not limited to the following: turnaround times of results, view critical results, testing volumes, lab site to lab site volume, peek time testing and accurate results. The Laboratory Section Supervisor is responsible for the selection, training, evaluation, and necessary discipline of technical staff. Maintains medical laboratory productivity by monitoring workload of functional areas; identifying peak and slack periods; making operational or staffing adjustment within section. Qualified candidate will also hold annual reviews and competency evaluations for technical staff. Responsible for the oversight of the daily schedule for all staff to ensure adequate staff coverage at all Duly locations to provide the needed laboratory service hours, including approving vacation and other time-off requests of staff to maintain coverage. The Section Supervisor is responsible for implementation of new programs, tests, methods, instrumentation, and procedures by investigating alternatives; preparing proposals; developing and performing parallel testing; monitoring progress within respective section. Calibration verification and method review of new tests. Comparison of old methods to new methods. Laboratory Information system (LIS) verification and review with Laboratory Manager. Writing CLSI procedures / SOP for submission to Laboratory Manager/Director for review. SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT SCOPE Responsible for oversight of staff primarily assigned to section in conjunction with the Laboratory Manager(s). Local travel required 50-75% of the time to manage personnel within regional areas of Duly Health and Care.

Requirements

  • Medical Laboratory Scientist (Medical Technologist) (MLS/MT) Certification with American Medical Technologists (AMT) or Histology Technologist (HTL).
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with minimum coursework as required by CLIA.
  • Must have a degree in Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution in accordance with CLIA.
  • Foreign educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from the IERF (International Education Research Foundation), or equivalent agency.
  • United States educated candidates must provide a detailed original transcript.
  • Minimum of four years of laboratory experience required.
  • Must have experience in Chemical, Physical, Histology, Mohs, Biological Science or Medical Laboratory Science within a medical laboratory setting in accordance with CLIA.
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in laboratory information systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Minimum three years of Medical Laboratory generalist/histotechnologist experience.

  • Issued by (Governing Body) AMT – American Medical Technologist, ASCP – American Society for Clinical Pathology, NCA – National Credentialing Agency, ASMH – American Society for Mohs Histotechnology.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a lead / supervisory experience preferred.
