About The Position

The Cytology Laboratory Supervisor assists the Lab Manager by providing oversight of day to day operations in cytology laboratory.

Requirements

• Cytologist (CT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
• Bachelor's Degree: Cytotechnology
• Bachelor's Degree: Biological Science
• 3yrs of Pathology laboratory work experience

Responsibilities

• Provides support to, and serves as backup for the Lab Manager.
• Responsible for the oversight of day-to-day operations in the clinical laboratory.
• Leads initiatives at the direction/discretion of the Lab Manager.
• Overall responsibility for regulatory preparedness in area of oversight (working with lab leadership and staff).
• Ongoing monitoring of quality and performance metrics.
• Complete performance evaluations and ongoing supervision of personnel in area of oversight.
• Deliver disciplinary action and developmental action plans as warranted.
• Assists with operating and capital budget preparation and monthly expense variance reporting.
• Ensures appropriate staffing and reassign staff as dictated by workload.
• Monitors turn-around-time reports and implements corrective action to ensure the established timeframes are consistently met.
• Helps assess and recommend new instrumentation.
• Ensures implementation studies, LIS validation and staff training take place when new instrumentation and tests are implemented.
• Performs performance evaluations for staff.
• Evaluates CAP checklists and ensures compliance with all regulations.
• Monitors quality metrics and implements corrective action as needed to ensure all quality goals are met.
