About the role: A Senior Lab Administrator (Sr. Admin) is a highly experienced caretaker of the labs. A Sr. Admin can close a large number of tickets without help or supervision, and may be responsible for entire lab(s). A Sr. Admin should be people that Lab Admins go to for help and advice, and be a mentor to them. Sr. Admins must also be able to support existing and create new software tools for the labs. A strong knowledge of the following is required: UNIX (FreeBSD) Linux (RHEL/CentOS) PERL/Python TCP/IP VMware ESX Administration Duties and Responsibilities: A Sr. Admin performs much or the same tasks as a Lab Admin, however they have a deeper understanding of why such a thing is done, as opposed to just what must be done. Tasks for a Sr. Admin include but are not limited to: Installation of network and/or computer equipment Software re-installation of lab devices Adding new devices to our database system Troubleshooting and replacing of broken hardware Building or changing topologies between devices, and documenting the changes Building and deploying Virtual Machines (using Proxmox or ESX vCenter)

Requirements

  • UNIX (FreeBSD)
  • Linux (RHEL/CentOS)
  • PERL/Python
  • TCP/IP
  • VMware ESX Administration
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of experience within the labs is required to be considered for such a position.
