About The Position

The Doe Run Company is seeking a Laboratory Quality Supervisor for its Quentin J Schmidt Lab in Viburnum, MO. This role is responsible for ensuring analytical accuracy, maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supporting method development and continuous improvement initiatives. The company has a 160-year history and is a privately held natural resources company based in St. Louis, Missouri, known as one of the largest lead producers in the Western Hemisphere. Doe Run is dedicated to environmentally responsible mineral and metal production and operates facilities in Missouri, Washington, and Arizona, including one of the world's largest single-site lead recycling facilities. The company uses innovative mining techniques to access one of the world's largest lead deposits and strives to provide premium services and products while enhancing the quality of life. A sustainability report is available online. This position offers a competitive base pay and is eligible for the Company variable pay (bonus) plan. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, Business, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control to support lab processing.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a leadership role.
  • Experience in conducting audits, root cause investigations, and continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs and Laboratory Information Management Systems.
  • Proficient working knowledge of analytical chemical lab equipment and operation.
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and presentation.
  • Proficient organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient leadership skills to coach and lead an analytical chemistry team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee data review and validation to ensure analytical integrity and compliance with QA/QC requirements.
  • Verify that results meet accuracy, precision, and traceability standards.
  • Maintain quality records and prepare reports summarizing performance trends or deviations.
  • Develop, update, and maintain laboratory SOPs and QA/QC documentation.
  • Perform or oversee verification testing using certified standards.
  • Conduct method development or test work to improve the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of laboratory procedures.
  • Oversee training of analytical staff, conduct performance audits, and drive quality improvement efforts to establish and enforce an effective Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Perform advanced sample analysis and assist with troubleshooting analytical or procedural issues as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance for calibration, instrument performance, and process optimization to ensure consistent, reliable results.
  • Maintain EHS (environmental, health, and safety) compliance by holding direct reports accountable for adherence to EHS policies, procedures, and best practices; evaluating employee EHS performance via field observations and document review; reporting and correcting unsafe acts or conditions, incidents, and deviations; and providing feedback to support continuous improvement in EHS performance.
