Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience or training.
  • Ability to use technical equipment and basic hand tools to perform minor repairs.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Proficient computer literacy, working knowledge of Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Gathers samples from specified set of tanks in different stages of process and mix chemicals such as ferrous, lye and brine.
  • Prepares chemical solutions such as ferrous and lye according to standard formulas.
  • Samples olives from every set of lye tanks to check penetration of the lye.
  • Adds calcium to olives when necessary.
  • Records test results on standardized forms and writes test reports.
  • Takes samples from ferrous tanks and performs PH tests.
  • Drains process tanks to proper containment.
  • Checks the progress of each set of tanks in the lye and makes minor, necessary adjustments to process tank controls.
  • Orders bulk processing ingredients and chemicals and receives the corresponding deliveries upon arrival.
  • Monitors and observes olive processing machines and systems to ensure proper operation.
  • Controls and helps diagnose minor malfunctions and performs related basic maintenance repair activities and /or writes work order requests.
  • Maintains and updates the processing data base to keep track of fruits quality and condition.
  • During bulk chemical receiving, performs organoleptic tests to confirm the identity of the chemical delivered and logs the information in the log sheet.
  • Follows all safety rules and regulations, including active participation in the prompt identification and communication of safety hazards.
  • Must be able to work any shift and weekends as necessary, including overtime.
  • Immediately reports all food safety and food quality problems to your supervisor.
  • Uses PC based operator interface to control computerized process.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
