Stat Lab - Lab Generalist I (Day Shift)
About The Position
The Laboratory Generalist I receives and prepares samples for laboratory analysis and testing, sets up and maintains instruments, performs tests, interprets results, and enters and releases results. The position follows laboratory quality assurance guidelines and standard operating practices, contributes to lab efficiency and quality, and participates in departmental training. Work is performed under close to moderate supervision in a laboratory environment where potential biohazards and hazardous chemicals may be present; mandatory PPE is used to mitigate biohazard risks. The schedule is 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Extended hours may be needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Laboratory skills and experience.
- General science background.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate information clearly and exchange accurate information.
- Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Proficiency in English sufficient to participate in team meetings, accurately enter data into company systems, and understand written directions.
Nice To Haves
- A two- or four-year degree in a science-related field.
- Prior laboratory experience.
Responsibilities
- Receive and prepare samples for laboratory analysis or send out tests.
- Perform analyzer startup and required maintenance.
- Perform required quality control according to Quality Assurance guidelines.
- Train in all areas according to Standard Operating Practices.
- Enter and release results.
- Participate in improving laboratory efficiency, quality, and cooperation.
- Participate in departmental training programs.
- Reconcile the pending list.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
