About The Position

The Lab/Facility Chemist performs chemical analyses of hazardous and non-hazardous waste to determine compliant treatment and disposal. The role uses a variety of analytical techniques and instruments to analyze environmental samples for organic and inorganic constituents, following approved EPA test methods, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Work Instructions (WIs). The chemist prepares samples and analytical standards, operates and sequences instruments, processes data, performs basic instrument maintenance and repairs as needed, and maintains accurate documentation. The position also validates analytical methods, completes Initial and annual Demonstrations of Capability, applies quality-control measures and calculations, identifies chemical content, and researches appropriate treatment studies. Under the Laboratory Manager’s supervision, the chemist participates in developing SOPs and WIs and provides technical knowledge to help develop formulas, improve or create processes, and solve technical problems. The role requires maintaining a clean and safe work environment and performing other related duties as assigned.
