About The Position

Join Intel as a Lab Engineering Technician and contribute to the development of next-generation packaging technologies. In this role, you will support engineering teams by preparing samples, executing experimental measurements, maintaining lab equipment, and helping develop new tools, fixtures, and test methods. This is a hands-on role in a dynamic research and development environment where priorities can evolve and strong judgment, flexibility, and attention to detail are essential. You will work closely with engineers and other technicians to support experimental setup and data collection, new metrology development and documentation. The ideal candidate is technically capable, highly organized, and comfortable working through non-routine tasks in a collaborative development setting.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field and 2+ years of experience in equipment maintenance or a related discipline.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics).
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher plus 4+ years of hands‑on manufacturing experience in a relevant technical environment.
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher plus 4+ years of military technical experience.
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher plus 2.5+ years of experience in equipment maintenance or a closely related technical field.
  • High School Diploma/GED or higher plus 3+ year Technical/trade certification
  • A minimum of 1+ year of laboratory experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Semiconductor technical workforce experience
  • Familiarity with standard laboratory tools such as optical microscopes, thermocouples, multimeters, polishers, and table-top saws.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computers and Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with optical measurement equipment such as interferometers, confocal microscopes, and CMMs.
  • Experience with mechanical test systems such as MTS or Instron load frames.
  • Basic fabrication or machining experience, including lathe and mill operation.
  • CAD experience, especially SolidWorks.
  • Experience building, modifying, or troubleshooting custom fixtures and lab setups.
  • Strong documentation skills, including SOPs, work instructions, and technical reports.
  • Ability to analyze experimental data in Excel and summarize results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and fabricate samples using a variety of lab tools and techniques, including soldering, epoxy bonding, cutting, polishing, spray painting, and sensor attachment.
  • Conduct experimental measurements using established test methods and assist with the development of new measurement approaches.
  • Support engineers in building and modifying custom fixtures, tools, and lab setups for prototype and development work.
  • Accurately record, organize, and document test results, observations, and experimental conditions.
  • Help create and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, and test notes for new tools and methods.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, calibration support, and basic troubleshooting on assigned lab equipment.
  • Assist in resolving non-standard issues through careful observation, good judgment, and collaboration with engineers.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
