About The Position

itD is seeking a Lab Engineer to support the development and operation of next-generation AI-powered wearable systems by building, maintaining, and optimizing high-throughput capture environments. This role is critical in enabling cutting-edge research by ensuring accurate data capture, system reliability, and seamless collaboration across engineering and research teams. The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in capture systems, hardware-software integration, and system troubleshooting, with a track record of delivering high-quality data pipelines, system validation, and operational excellence in production environments.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working with capture systems in production or product environments
  • Proficiency in Linux and Windows operating systems, including command-line usage
  • Hands-on experience with multi-camera systems, depth sensors, IMUs, and integrated capture systems
  • Strong debugging, profiling, and troubleshooting skills across hardware and software
  • Experience in hardware-software integration within applied research or product development environments
  • Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, research, and product teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with distributed systems or cloud-based environments
  • Proficiency in scripting/automation (e.g., Python, Bash, Zsh)
  • Familiarity with open-source tools and frameworks
  • Knowledge of camera synchronization (e.g., timecode, genlock) and real-time systems
  • Experience with fault analysis, failure mode analysis, or system validation
  • Exposure to rapid prototyping tools such as 3D printing

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data capture sessions, annotations, processing, and quality assurance using advanced hardware and software systems
  • Assemble, configure, and maintain multi-sensor capture systems including cameras, depth sensors, and IMUs
  • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software issues to ensure smooth system performance
  • Test capture systems end-to-end, identify sources of error, and implement corrective solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers, researchers, and program managers to meet project specifications and timelines
  • Monitor system performance and provide technical feedback to improve quality, stability, and output
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation for capture systems and processes
  • Attend regular internal practice community meetings
  • Collaborate with your itD practice team on industry thought leadership
  • Complete client case studies and learning material (blogs, media material)
  • Build out material to contribute to the Digital Transformation practice
  • Attend internal itD networking events (in person and virtual)
  • Work with leadership on career fast-track opportunities
