About The Position

This is a casual position with varied days and hours depending on the needs of the Lab. The Lab Courier is responsible for maintaining the hospital vehicle, filling and delivering physician supply orders, delivering specimens to the lab while maintaining integrity, and responding to physicians' offices needs. The role also involves completing assigned tasks, being available for emergency situations, documenting specimens, maintaining attendance, and participating in professional growth and development.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Valid current Michigan Driver’s License

Responsibilities

Keeps the hospital vehicle in working order. Responsible for the basic cleaning and checking fluids. Alerting the supervisor if something is wrong with the car
Fills all physician supply orders and delivers supplies in a prompt manner
Delivers all specimens to the lab while maintaining specimen integrity. Notifies staff of STAT specimens
Promotes customer service and handles problems effectively that arise at the physician office
Responds to physicians’ offices needs by delivering correspondence and picking up STATs when needed
Completes all assigned tasks when needed
Available for emergency situations that arise that a courier is needed to transport specimens if an instrument is down to another testing facility
Documentation and recording specimens obtained at each office
Maintains favorable attendance. Reports absences in accordance with the Employee Handbook in the manner prescribed by the Department Manager
Recognizes job relationships and functions effectively within the organizational structure
Maintains professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, and other means to keep abreast of latest trends in the laboratory field
Completes mandatory education and employee health screening on a timely basis
Perform other duties as required or assigned
