About The Position

The Lab Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily, weekly, and monthly operations of the laboratory, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety protocols. This role involves coordinating lab activities, maintaining equipment, assisting with patient and provider needs, and managing lab supplies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and committed to maintaining high standards of care in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment, sterilization procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Strong ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • High level of precision in handling lab results and documentation.
  • Ability to work effectively with clinical staff and external partners.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant or equivalent clinical training.
  • Experience in a lab setting or related clinical support role preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile Nextgen Fax Folder (Quest communication): Ensure that all faxes from Quest Diagnostics are reviewed and processed.
  • Review Nextgen Task Folder: Manage various lab-related tasks, including scheduling in-house dermatology appointments.
  • Reconcile Rosetta Lab Manager Holding Tank: Match lab results as per procedures.
  • Sterilize Instruments: Inspect and sterilize all instruments in the Green/Purple Lab, ensuring they are damage-free.
  • Inspect Eyewash Stations: Conduct inspections in the Green, Purple, and Main labs.
  • Monitor Emails: Respond to emails promptly.
  • Assist Quest Phlebotomist: Provide coverage and contact relevant providers or MAs/EMTs as needed.
  • Stock Labs and Complete Quality Control Checks: Ensure lab stock is replenished and perform quality control checks on Point of Care (POC) test kits.
  • Maintain Lab Machines: Regularly check that all lab machines are functioning properly.
  • Reconcile Nextgen Outstanding Lab Report: Verify outstanding lab reports weekly.
  • Stock Lab Supplies: Restock supplies in the Green and Purple labs.
  • Order Supplies: Place orders for lab supplies from vendors like McKesson, Quest, or Medline.
  • Autoclave Cleaning and Spore Testing: Perform cleaning and spore testing in the Green and Purple suites and document results.
  • Review Dermatology Referrals: Schedule patients according to provider requirements and update the dermatology tracking spreadsheet.
  • Print and Archive Spore Testing Report: Print the monthly spore testing report for the SSHC, scan to the shared drive, and ensure satellite clinics have current reports.
  • Change 28-Day Cleaning Solution: Replace the cleaning solution in the sterilization room.
  • Sharps Container Inspection: Sign off on the monthly inspection sticker located on the outside of the sharps container.
  • Log Scanning: Scan temperature and freezer log sheets into SharePoint; retain logs for two years.
  • Update Lab Equipment Records: Ensure all CCH clinic lab machines have updated serial numbers in the SharePoint spreadsheet and communicate with MA supervisors as needed.
