Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required

• Previous medical office or hospital laboratory related experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties for the laboratory such as answering telephones, faxing and accepting verbal orders for new and add-on test.
• Verify patient charges, verify insurance if applicable and review the PI Sheet (Personal Information Sheet) with the laboratory requisitions.
• Performs customer service functions and preparing the requisitions for outpatients and inpatients using the laboratory computer system.
• Filing patient reports, retrieving patient results for physician, and processing requisitions for send out to the reference lab.
• Demonstrate adequate knowledge of laboratory test terminology and patient preparation requirements.
• Demonstrate good telephone etiquette and able to greet patients and other visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Good communication skills are required.
• Other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.
