About The Position

Clean Harbors in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Lab Chemist to join their team. This role is responsible for sample preparation and analyzing samples to determine their chemical and physical properties, supporting the chemical disposal operation in the Cleveland facility. The position involves a shift change after training, moving from day shift to 2nd shift (3:30pm-12am, Mon-Fri), with potential for overtime and Saturday work. The pay rate is $23/HR plus a $1.75 shift differential for the 2nd shift.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or physical science is required.
1-5 years’ experience in hands-on laboratory experience with wet chemistry testing methods.
Superior organizational skills coupled with a strong attention to detail.
Effective communication skills in writing and in verbal, will be interacting with people of various education and technical backgrounds.
Ability to work in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

Ability to set up and conduct chemical experiments/tests such as chromatography, spectroscopy, and titrations preferred.

Responsibilities

Ensures Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.

Performs analysis of samples following prescribed procedures, with the ability to solve minor problems.
Calibrates and utilizes instrumentation.
Maintenance of equipment, suggests solutions to problems.
Completes all paperwork associated with the analyses in a neat and timely fashion.
Ensures that all work meets applicable QA/QC guidelines.
Responsibility for supply management in their area of responsibility, including proper housekeeping and best management practices.
Responsible for proper management of waste generated as a result of analytical procedures.
