About The Position

Join our team to be an integral part of delivering precise and reliable laboratory results that impact patient outcomes positively. we are looking for someone that does phlebotomy and processing. This role involves performing a variety of pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic laboratory duties. The Center for Advanced Medicine - South County is a new outpatient facility, jointly owned by Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, that is under construction in South St. Louis County. The building, scheduled to open in late spring 2016, is located near the Siteman Cancer Center at I-55 and Butler Hill Rd. This new, two-story, approximately 84,500 square foot outpatient facility will include outpatient surgery, imaging, lab, therapy, and Washington University physician subspecialty offices including the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology, Surgery, and OB/GYN. The surgery suite includes two operating rooms and two minor procedure rooms. Imaging services will include plain film, CT, MRI, and screening mammography.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2-5 years experience
• No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy experience Highly recommended
• Phlebotomy certification

Responsibilities

• Performs waived and moderate complex testing with appropriate training and competency, sweat chloride collections, EKG's, etc.
• Under supervision, reports test results as appropriate.
• Sorts and processes routine and specific high level specimens received by the lab--including multistep technical processing (i.e. Histology, Microbiology, Cytology, etc.). Ensures correct processing and packaging for esoteric send out tests.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Inventory management, equipment cleaning, maintenance, loading, etc.
