About The Position

This position is in processing, clerical tasks and phlebotomy as needed. Join our Laboratory team at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital to be an integral part of delivering precise and reliable laboratory results that impact patient outcomes positively. The Laboratory Department is a 40 Hours Per Week position, working from 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. There are no weekends, but 1-2 holidays per year are expected on a rotating basis.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• <2 years of experience
• No Supervisor Experience

Nice To Haves

• Associate's Degree
• 2-5 years of experience
• < 2 years of Supervisor Experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy

Responsibilities

• Interpret physician orders and order tests in appropriate system.
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity. May work in outpatient lab, in physician office, or off campus patient service center.
• Sort and process specimens received by the laboratory and proficiently handle all specimens received in the lab.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• May perform registration, inventory maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
