About The Position

BJC's Parkland Health Center has a full-time Lab Associate I opportunity. In this position, the focus is on outpatient draws for lab test, and specimen collection. This position requires strong customer service skills and the ability to multi-task. The laboratory provides outpatient diagnostic lab services as ordered by the physician, who is working to provide quality treatment for the patients condition.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• No Experience
• No Experience (Supervisor Experience)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy

Nice To Haves

• <2 years (Experience)
• < 2 years (Supervisor Experience)

Responsibilities

• Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection.
• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
