About The Position

Performs non-blood and blood specimen collection, specimen handling/routine processing and clerical duties associated with specimen collection. This role is crucial for patient care and operations at Barnes Jewish Hospital. The Lab Associate will be responsible for phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and ensuring proper specimen collection and integrity. They will also coordinate various tasks accurately, manage STAT orders and workload fluctuations, and interact with different hospital departments.

Requirements

• HS Diploma/GED
• No Experience
• No Experience (Supervisor Experience)

Nice To Haves

• <2 years experience
• < 2 years supervisor experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Phlebotomy

Responsibilities

• Perform phlebotomy, positive patient identification, and positive patient interaction, proper collection and specimen integrity.
• Coordinates a simultaneous series of tasks accurately, including STAT orders and fluctuation in workload, prioritizing work to complete within scheduled hours and established turnaround times.
• Interacts with lab, clinical and other ancillary departments.
