About The Position

The Lab Assistant provides age-appropriate patient procedures and processes laboratory specimens. The role uses clinical information systems to fulfill laboratory orders, provides test results and other information to patient care teams, and participates in process improvement efforts to improve direct patient care and specimen flow through the laboratory. The position also provides sterilization and laboratory glass-washing services for the department of laboratories.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Meet at least one of the following: at least two years of experience in laboratory specimen processing and/or phlebotomy; or laboratory-related college courses, including a Clinical Laboratory Assistant associate degree program or bachelor's degree coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or related fields.
For Lab Assistant III personnel performing moderate point-of-care testing, a copy of the diploma or transcript documenting the highest level of academic achievement must be on record with Human Resources upon hire.
For personnel trained outside the U.S., diploma or transcript records must include a documented equivalency evaluation by a foreign credentialing agency.
