About The Position
The primary purpose of the Lab Assistant is to conduct lab functions as directed by the Lab Manager. This role involves specimen collection and processing, running lab tests under supervision, data processing, preparing billing sheets and lab report forms, stocking blood drawing trays, answering the laboratory phone, and following safety protocols for handling infectious materials.
Requirements
- Phlebotomy Certification
- High school graduate
- Current CPR training and certification
Responsibilities
- Specimen collection and processing by phlebotomy, including reference laboratory and data entry.
- Run lab test under supervision of Medical Technologist (not required to be on site).
- Process data: report receiving, routing, and filing.
- Billing sheet and lab report form preparation.
- Daily stocking of blood drawing trays.
- Answers Laboratory phone.
- Follows district policies to protect themself from blood borne pathogens: i.e. wearing gloves and glasses. Standard precautions are strictly followed.
- Other tasks as assigned by the Lab Manager.
