About The Position

Lab Assistants are responsible for all aspects of collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing while maintaining the Mission and Values of the Gateway Regional Medical Center. Requirements

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
Completion of a phlebotomy training program or equivalent
Board accredited phlebotomy certification or equivalent
Current Basic Life Support (AHA or American Red Cross BLS) certification Within 3 months
Must display ability to read and understanding written data and medical terminology
Must possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with all age groups
Must demonstrate the ability to perform all specimen processing functionalities
Data entry skills are required
Order and report distribution skills are essential
Professional customer service skills and positive attitude required
Must display ability to learn and retain policy, procedure, and computer training

Responsibilities

Collection and processing of biological specimens for clinical laboratory testing
Assists with maintaining laboratory operations
Performs other tasks as necessary to ensure continuity of patient care
