The Lab Assistant is responsible for collection of specimens for lab testing on inpatients, outpatients, emergency room and clinic patients. The Lab Assistant is responsible for application of learned techniques necessary to obtain quality specimens to aid the techs in reliable results. The Lab Assistant will be responsible for developing computer skills for the Laboratory Information System and complying with all regulatory requirements, including Lab Compliance. This position requires adept social skills and teamwork. The Lab Assistant is responsible for assisting the tech with certain preliminary routines including instrument maintenance, some QC, instrument startup routines, daily routines (temp checks, work area disinfection, etc.). The Lab Assistants may be trained to do non-waived and limited waived testing.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • LA license as Laboratory Assistant
  • Must possess phlebotomy training

Nice To Haves

  • Current certification for DOT Drug Screen Collections may be required.
  • Current certification for EBT may be required.
  • Experience may be required, depending on assignment
  • May be required to have experience collecting drug screens with COC
  • May be required to have experience with BAT

Responsibilities
