About The Position

The Laboratory Assistant, under direction of the Ancillary and Support Services Supervisor, enhances and extends the productivity of Medical Technologists by performing patient accommodative services including phlebotomy, specimen receipt, processing and referral, and technical procedures as assigned; assumes other duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisor.

Requirements

• Formal training which will probably be indicated by a high school diploma or equivalent
• Courses in medical terminology and/or laboratory testing procedures or two years previous experience
• One year experience in processing testing or specimen receipt
• Combination of two years experience as phlebotomist, laboratory aide/processor or handler

Responsibilities

• Performing patient accommodative services including phlebotomy
• Specimen receipt, processing and referral
• Performing technical procedures as assigned
• Assuming other duties and responsibilities as directed by Supervisor
