About The Position
The Laboratory Assistant II performs routine technical and clerical functions in a laboratory. Duties include venipuncture, specimen receipt and distribution, and performing CLIA-waived laboratory tests as requested. The role also supports specimen registration and billing, phlebotomy, waived testing, and microbiology specimen processing and plating as requested.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of laboratory experience and/or completion of a formal phlebotomy training program.
- Phlebotomy certification where required by state law.
Nice To Haves
- Basic laboratory computer or laboratory information system experience.
- Completion of a formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT, or similar.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine technical and clerical functions, including specimen registration and billing.
- Receive and distribute laboratory specimens.
- Perform phlebotomy duties as assigned.
- Perform waived laboratory testing as requested.
- Assist with microbiology specimen processing and plating as requested.
