About The Position

Wepackitall In-house Lab is a multifunctional laboratory that requires the lab analyst to support the lab manager with performing tests, verifications, validations, calibrations and other lab related functions. The lab analyst also creates and maintains necessary laboratory documentation. Work schedule is Monday through Friday with potential weekend work based on business needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, microbiology, or a related field preferred
  • Quality certifications are a plus

Responsibilities

  • Main responsibilities include microbiological testing, sample processing, data entry and lab duties.
  • Understand and conduct microbiological tests adhering to all micro testing requirements mentioned in Wepackitall Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standard Operating Methods (SOMs). Analyze test results: identify trends/correlations between processes and results.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality and safe product.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs & SOMs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Perform and document microbiological control, environmental control, allergen control, preventive maintenance, and laboratory quality control procedures.
  • Conduct Environmental Monitoring of Wepackitall facility.
  • Conduct environmental tests based on Wepackitall protocols and analyze test results to identify trends/correlations between processes and results.
  • Create and/or revise SOPs and SOMs to minimize microbial contamination (supervision by department superior(s) is required).
  • Ensure lab equipment is properly calibrated, stored and maintained and lab equipment is used by trained personnel. Provide training when necessary.
  • Maintain calibration and testing schedule log to record and maintain laboratory activities.
  • Send test samples to 3rd party testing whenever necessary.
  • Analyze 3rd party test results: identify trends/correlations between processes and results.
  • Make sure collected lab samples are handled with care to prevent cross contamination.
  • Conduct validation studies for monitoring the cleaning processes.
  • Conduct validation studies for verification of new production rooms and/or new WPIA machinery.
  • Conduct titration tests for chemicals used at Wepackitall facility:
  • Create and properly maintain product documentation like Product Specifications, Certificate of Analysis, SOPs, SOMs, Test Protocols, Validation and Verification documentation, etc.
  • Advise production and packaging personnel to formulate processes in such a way as to minimize potential for microbial contamination.
  • Analyze Microbiological Hazards and identify corresponding Critical Control Points.
  • Provide insight and assistance to production staff to decrease the likelihood of microbial contamination.
  • Per customer request conduct gluten free analysis on finished products.
  • Maintain 3rd party testing activities including scheduling and documentation.
  • Conduct product research, aid in development of products to minimize microbial contamination.
  • Assist decision-makers by considering microbiological factors associated with the decision.
  • Conduct product research to minimize micro contamination.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Data entry, handle samples, sort and attention detail for reports and lab test.
