About The Position

The Lab Aide (Phlebotomist) collects high-quality specimens and supports efficient laboratory operations, helping deliver fast, accurate care. The role serves outpatients and inpatients, maintains accurate documentation and specimen labels, communicates clearly, and assists the Clinical Laboratory as needed. The position requires a background check before employment, including criminal investigation and verification of citizenship or immigration status, employment history, and education. Selected applicants must also undergo drug testing for illegal drug use and a post-offer, pre-work physical examination to determine their ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current BLS CPR certification.
Effective verbal and written communication in English.
Strong customer service, communication, and basic computer skills.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, as assessed through a post-offer, pre-work physical examination.
Successful completion of the required pre-employment background check and drug testing.

Nice To Haves

Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy certification.
Ability to communicate in additional languages.

Responsibilities

Perform venipunctures and skin punctures safely and efficiently while reassuring patients.
Understand test requirements and assist the Clinical Laboratory as needed.
Complete bleeding time tests, blood cultures, and blood sample collection according to protocol.
Register patients and specimens according to hospital policy.
Keep documentation organized and specimen labels accurate.
Communicate clearly and support smooth laboratory workflow.
Set up the collection station and adapt to changing workflow, including add-on requests.
