About The Position

Responsible for performing technical and clerical duties as well as those functions within the definition of the practice of the profession of pharmacy, as defined by Section 465.003(13), F.S., under the direct and immediate personal supervision of a pharmacist (see rule 64B16-27.1001). These responsibilities include, but are not limited to: maintaining inventory and control of medication (including controlled substances), issue and delivery of these items, including locations part of the UF Health System, but separate from the main hospital. These duties are associated with providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients of Shands Hospital at the University of Florida. Competencies required for Pharmacy Technician Level 3 must be completed and successfully assessed within 6 months of start date and at annual evaluation thereafter.

Requirements

• Must meet all requirements of a Pharmacy Technician Level 2
• 12 months of Shand's Pharmacy Technician Level 2 experience and completion of all required competencies OR 6 months of Shand's Pharmacy Level 2 experience and two years hospital pharmacy experience OR 6 months of Shand's Pharmacy Level 2 experience and three years retail pharmacy experience
• Successful completion of the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCB)
• Demonstrate the ability to work independently
• Demonstrate the ability to contribute to effective working relationships
• Knowledge of basic pharmacy services, professionalism, and duties
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Ability to establish priorities and work independently without direct supervision
• Ability to organize and communicate with a variety of department personnel
• Ability to multi-task and operate in a variety of pharmacy settings
• Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a "frequent driver"
• Florida State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration or Pharmacy Intern License required

• Experience with word processing, spreadsheet and database management programs
