Job Highlights As our Spanish Bilingual Management Analyst 4, you will be working to achieve operational integrity for language access initiatives and processes within the Employment Standards program. This work is critical in making it easier to do business with our agency through translation requests, civil rights complaints, correspondence, projects, and representation of the division on many internal and external stakeholder initiatives.

Requirements

  • The ability to speak/read/write/translate Spanish to English and English to Spanish.
  • Successful completion of the L&I Spanish assessment is required.
  • A combination of 8 years of education and experience conducting research and analyzing policies, laws, rules, or regulations or comparable combination of graduate education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Research LEP customer experiences, interactions, treatment, and results from program staff.
  • Analyze customer complaints and concerns regarding language access issues and use independent judgment to determine if policy or process changes are needed.
  • Identify and present necessary recommendations on these complex problems to the Employment Standards Operations Manager.
  • Facilitate, lead, and participate in agency language access process improvement teams across divisions to solicit concerns and provide a better understanding of the department’s language access procedures.
  • Develop informational publications based on analysis of community needs relating to the Employment Standards Program and other L&I divisions.
  • Collaborate with other Employment Standards Language Access Project Team in language access roles and responsibilities.
  • Identify potential Employment Standards Program gaps and barriers as they apply to customer Language Access concerns.
  • Perform targeted research, analyze and evaluate customer experiences to make multidimensional recommendations on work plan improvements to program, divisional, and executive leadership.
  • Record, analyze, and report data on Language Access metrics in the Employment Standards program.
  • Work with L&I’s Civil Rights Program Manager to track and respond to any civil rights complaints related to the Employment Standards Program’s interactions with customers in collaboration with the Operations and Training Manager.
  • Collaborate with staff across the program and agency to ensure that documents are written in plain language before translation by noting and attending to cultural nuances, and identifying and explaining terms that are unique to labor and employment law.
  • Direct the efforts of the Employment Standards Language Access Project Team to identify staff resources for webinars, presentations, and consultations with employer and employee organizations representing diverse audiences.
