About The Position

The Kubernetes Engineer supports mission-critical objectives under the referenced work order by configuring, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters tailored for IL environments (IL2, IL4, IL5) ensuring support for ESRI ArcGIS services and integration with agency infrastructure. This role optimizes containerized transformation pipelines and implements Kubernetes-native monitoring solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cloud Computing, or a related field; or A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in Kubernetes administration.
  • Demonstrated experience in deploying and managing Kubernetes clusters.
  • Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting containerized applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing service mesh architectures such as Istio or Linkerd.
  • Demonstrated experience using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cloud infrastructure services (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Expertise in Kubernetes cluster orchestration and container networking.
  • Working knowledge of Helm chart deployment and CI/CD pipeline automation.
  • Proficiency in AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and Kubernetes monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Ability to implement service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd).

Responsibilities

  • Configuring, deploying, and maintaining Kubernetes clusters for IL2/IL4/IL5 environments.
  • Developing and managing Helm charts and Kubernetes operators for declarative deployment and automated scaling of ESRI services.
  • Configuring persistent volume claims and provisioning container-native storage (AWS EBS, Azure disks).
  • Integrating Kubernetes-native monitoring and logging solutions (Prometheus, Fluentd, OpenTelemetry).
