About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking a KTDO News Intern to gather information, shoot, write, and edit newsworthy events including breaking/spot news, general news, and feature stories. The intern will collaborate with line producers, reporters, and anchors to gather elements and assist in the production of news stories and interview segments. They will also work with the Assignment Desk, Producers, and Reporters to research news segments and place them on appropriate platforms. The role involves using desktop editing systems to edit video, including breaking news, and creating digital video news products for multiplatform distribution (Website, App, Social Media, OTT, and linear). The intern will generate story ideas, conduct research, and set up content and interviews, while also supporting Reporters, Anchors, and Photojournalists with content needs and searching wires and other partner sources for stories.

Requirements

• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
• Must be bilingual in Spanish (written and verbal).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by NBCUniversal.
• Must be able to work on-site in El Paso, TX, with flexibility to work at off-site locations and participate in field assignments as needed.
• Demonstrated involvement in campus organizations, student media, volunteer work, academic projects, or other extracurricular activities that reflect initiative, teamwork, and a strong interest in journalism and media.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-intensity environment, often under tight deadline pressures.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Diligence and strong organizational skills.
• Strong interest in and demonstrated knowledge of current affairs.
• Excellent computer skills (especially search skills).
