Winston Churchill High School is seeking a Knowledge and Employability Teacher to join their team. Requirements

  • Applicants must possess or be eligible to obtain an Alberta Teaching Certificate.
  • Demonstrates a sound understanding of diverse learning contexts and the variables that influence student success, including cultural, social, and individual factors.
  • Possesses deep knowledge of subject disciplines and applies evidence-based pedagogical approaches that reflect current best practices in elementary education.
  • Shows proficiency in curriculum planning, formative and summative assessment strategies, and differentiated instructional practices that meet diverse learning needs.
  • Implements effective classroom management strategies that foster a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment where all students can thrive.
  • Integrates technology purposefully and effectively to enhance teaching and learning experiences.
  • Embodies the qualities of a reflective professional, actively engaging in ongoing professional learning aligned with Alberta's Teaching Quality Standard (TQS).
  • Demonstrates commitment to building and maintaining respectful, professional relationships within the school community.
  • Values and actively participates in collaborative practice and teamwork with colleagues, students, and families.
  • Contributes actively to school culture, student activities, and extracurricular programs while developing effective partnerships within the school and broader community.

Responsibilities

  • Foster an inclusive, anti-racist, and anti-oppressive learning environment that values diverse perspectives and supports the development of students’ literacy and numeracy skills across all areas of learning.
  • Build authentic, collaborative relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners to create meaningful learning experiences that strengthen communication, critical thinking, and student engagement.
  • Design and deliver engaging, hands-on learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction to real-world and community-based experiences, helping students develop practical skills that support future employment, independence, and lifelong learning, particularly within Knowledge and Employability programming.
  • Inspires curiosity and active participation through dynamic, project-based instruction that encourages inquiry, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving in meaningful and relevant contexts.
