About The Position

Pilgrim’s is a global provider of high-quality food products with a long history of serving customers and consumers. The Arcadia, WI location employs approximately 500 team members and works with 150 local growers. This position is within the Evis Team and focuses on maintaining knives, scissors, and blades to meet production needs.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write English (for record keeping purposes).
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively with team members within the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding how to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to work in cool temperatures (around 40 degrees).
  • Ability to stand and use hand for 8 to 10 hours per shift.
  • Ability to multitask and work quickly.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Capable of handling heavy objects up to 50 pounds, utilizing mechanical devices available, as well as proper lifting and ergonomic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Sharpens knives, scissors, and blades used for plant operation.
  • Cleans knives, scissors, and blades used for plant operation.
  • Monitors knife, scissors, and blade inventory.
  • Hones knives, scissors, and blades as needed.
  • Washes, dries, and oils tools for Maintenance.
  • Clean and organize work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Trains others with the skills and knowledge gained from position.
  • Observes all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and leadership teams.
  • Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks.
  • Consistently practices and enforces safe work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.
  • Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma.
  • Follow all company animal welfare guidelines.
  • Other duties as directed.
