About The Position

Performs a variety of functions necessary for meal service. Maintains a clean and orderly environment, and washes equipment and utensils according to standard practices and procedures. Assists with assembling patient trays, special events, and cafeteria meal services. Complies with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and follow directions.
  • Must have good eye hand coordination in the performance of numerous tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Readies food items for meal service needs, including portioning and plating food for patients, cafeteria, and special functions, mixing and portioning nutritional supplements, assembling sandwiches and platters, filling hot beverage containers, making coffee, toasting bread products, and restocking supplies.
  • Provides meal service in the cafeteria, including assembling and placing food and supply items, serving customers, restocking supplies, and collecting customer money at the cash register.
  • Assists in the assembly of patient trays, ensuring accurate and efficient work at all assigned tray line positions, and distributing tray carts to patient care areas.
  • Performs cleaning and sanitation services in the department according to schedule, including cleaning equipment and surfaces, operating the dishwasher, cleaning food carts and dollies, washing pots, pans, and serving equipment, and disposing of refuse.
  • Participates in providing meal service to special functions by assembling items and delivering meals.
  • Participates in Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities, including measuring and recording dish machine temperatures, food temperatures, and refrigeration/freezer temperatures.
  • Participates in in-service and continuing education programs.
