About The Position

The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the kitchen while ensuring food quality, sanitation, safety, and team performance standards are consistently met. This position provides leadership and direction to kitchen staff, supports food preparation and service, maintains inventory controls, and helps ensure an exceptional guest dining experience in accordance with Embassy Suites and company standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of kitchen experience in a hotel, restaurant, or banquet environment.
  • Knowledge of food preparation techniques, sanitation requirements, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and repetitive motions.

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree or formal culinary training preferred.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred or ability to obtain within required timeframe.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of cooks, stewards, and other kitchen team members.
  • Ensure all food is prepared, presented, and served according to established recipes, quality standards, and food safety guidelines.
  • Monitor kitchen operations to maintain efficiency during breakfast, banquet, restaurant, and catered events.
  • Assist with scheduling, training, coaching, and developing culinary team members.
  • Conduct daily line checks to ensure proper food quality, temperature, and presentation.
  • Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal health regulations, including ServSafe standards.
  • Ensure proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation using FIFO procedures.
  • Assist with inventory management, ordering, receiving, and controlling food costs.
  • Monitor waste and identify opportunities to improve productivity and reduce expenses.
  • Ensure kitchen equipment is maintained, cleaned, and operating safely.
  • Assist with menu execution and special event preparation.
  • Address employee performance issues and communicate concerns to management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment at all times.
  • Support the Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Manager with additional duties as assigned.
