About The Position

As a Central Kitchen Steward, you'll play an essential role in supporting our kitchen operations by maintaining a clean, safe, and inspection-ready environment. Your work directly supports the preparation of nutritious meals for children and families in our community.

Requirements

  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
  • Comfortable working efficiently in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable attendance, professionalism, and effective communication in English.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and accountable.
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds and remain on your feet for extended periods. Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, climbing, and pushing/pulling are part of the job.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to drive an agency vehicle when needed.
  • Current Food Handler's Permit or ability to obtain one within two weeks of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2–3 years of kitchen experience.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, sanitize, and maintain kitchen equipment.
  • Wash dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen vessels.
  • Sweep, mop, and maintain clean kitchen, warehouse, and dishwashing areas.
  • Dispose of waste and recycling while monitoring chemical levels.
  • Assist with food preparation as directed by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Properly store food and supplies, load and unload inventory, and report maintenance or safety concerns.
