The Kitchen Steward plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment. This position supports culinary operations by ensuring proper sanitation, cleanliness, and organization of the kitchen, dish room, equipment, and storage areas.

Requirements

  • Previous stewarding or kitchen experience preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
  • Valid Food Handler certification required within the first 30 days of work.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Background check and drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Wash, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain cleanliness of all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, work surfaces, sinks, and storage spaces.
  • Sweep, mop, remove trash, and follow all sanitation and safety guidelines.
  • Clean and assist in maintaining kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, hood vents, and refrigerators.
  • Ensure all equipment and tools are returned to their designated locations and stored safely.
  • Report any maintenance, safety, or repair concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and organizing food and supply deliveries.
  • Keep storage areas clean, organized, and properly stocked; rotate stock following FIFO procedures.
  • Provide basic support to chefs and kitchen staff as directed.
  • Work collaboratively with the culinary team to maintain an efficient and positive kitchen environment.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
