About The Position

This Kitchen Porter/Steward position ensures the kitchen remains clean and organized by washing dishes, sanitizing work areas, maintaining kitchen equipment, and completing all necessary janitorial tasks. Requirements

  • Ability to oversee the operation and maintaining the sanitation of the kitchen area.
  • Must be familiar with proper use of chemicals, and draining and filling dish machines.
  • Must have experience as a supervisor or lead role in a Back of the House/dish-pit function.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to create a Teamwork environment.
  • Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced, high stress environment.
  • Stand for long periods of time, approximately 8 hours.
  • Walk for long periods of time.
  • Lift and carry a minimum of 50 pounds.
  • Bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate closely with Chef on Duty.
  • Ensure kitchen area is clean, well maintained and organized at all times.
  • Ensure floors are dry and clean at all times.
  • Oversee all equipment is clean and in good working order.
  • Ensure waste areas are clean and tidy.
  • Supervise and train Kitchen Workers in the dish-pit area.
  • Oversee Xanterra and National Park Service standards are met throughout kitchen area.
  • Other duties as assigned.
