About The Position

Hope Gospel Mission is hiring part-time Kitchen Staff to assist with daily food preparation and distribution, providing healthy and balanced meals for all residents. The position is scheduled Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, with help required at Celebration Dinners on the last Friday of each month. Additional required events may fall outside those hours. The role supports Hope Gospel Mission’s intentional, faith-based, trauma-informed, safe, and healing community. Program staff are expected to contribute to this culture through their interactions with residents and others.

Requirements

Be a mature Christian and agree with Hope Gospel Mission’s faith statement.
Obtain Serve Safe Manager certification or have the ability to certify upon hire.
Have strong interpersonal and critical-thinking skills.
Be able to navigate crises calmly and professionally.
Be computer literate.
Have a current driver’s license and meet the approval requirements of HGM’s insurance company to drive mission vehicles.
Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.

Previous experience in a kitchen or food service.

Responsibilities

Help create and maintain an intentional, faith-based, healthy, healing community.
Obtain food and donations to maintain meal service within budget.
Oversee kitchen volunteers and orient each person before they work in the kitchen.
Create three healthy meals daily and portion meals for each resident, including preparing dinners that can be finished and served in each house.
Ensure unlimited salad items and vegetables are available so residents are not hungry.
Supply and stock condiments, milk, and other supplementary food items as needed.
Maintain hygiene and food safety standards in all kitchens.
Keep food rotated and fresh.
Implement and oversee kitchen processes and procedures.
Provide meals for events such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and Celebration Dinners.
