About The Position

The Kitchen Runner is responsible for ensuring the efficient transfer of products between outlets, organizing food and consumable supplies, chemicals, and paper products for the Food & Beverage Department. This role requires adherence to industry standards for sanitation, proper handling, storage, and labeling of products. The Kitchen Runner will manage stock rotation using FIFO procedures, determine consolidation needs for warehouse items, and operate equipment used in receiving and storage. Key duties include verifying shipment quantities and identities, inspecting for expiration dates and product quality, and reporting any damaged items. The position also involves completing opening and closing tasks, unpacking and storing products according to SOPs, and identifying correct storage locations (freezer, refrigerator, dry storage, chemical). Physical requirements include carrying trays, pushing carts, bending, lifting items weighing 30-50 pounds, and providing quick assistance in kitchen or delivery areas. The role also requires knowledge of food preparation and ingredients to answer guest questions and may involve minimal prep duties to assist cooks. Effective communication and assistance with the Stewarding/Kitchen team are also essential.

Requirements

  • Follow industry standards for sanitation and the handling, storage and labeling of product.
  • Establish the order product will be received and put away in appropriate refrigerators/freezers and dry storage for systematic rotation of stock in accordance with FIFO procedures.
  • Determine when and how items are to be consolidated in the warehouse area for inspection, transfer, or placement in proper storage areas.
  • Successfully complete training for operating equipment used in receiving and storage of materials, i.e. manual lift dolly.
  • Verify quantity and identity of materials as shown on the receipt document.
  • Inspect shipments for expiration dates, perishable and deteriorative nature of specific items to eliminate costly and wasteful expenditure of material.
  • Report any damaged or sub-par product to supervisor.
  • Complete opening and closing side work as assigned.
  • Unpack product and put away product as defined by departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Able to identify what product should be in freezer, refrigerator, non-refrigerated, or chemical.
  • Carry trays, push carts, bend and lift.
  • Provide quick and attentive assistance to any issue that may occur in kitchen or delivery areas.
  • Knowledgeable about food preparation and ingredients in order to answer guest's questions.
  • May perform minimal prep duties to assist cooks.
  • Communicate with and assist Stewarding/Kitchen team when necessary.
  • Able to lift and carry items weighing 30-50 pounds.
