About The Position
This full-time position is part of a team that produces meals daily and provides students with training in culinary arts, including meal preparation and production. This position assists in the production and packaging of prepared meals and program meals. Coordinates menus and production with the lead production chef.
Requirements
- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification
- High School Diploma
- Prior experience in a commercial or institutional kitchen environment preferred.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, kitchen equipment, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to follow directions.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and special events as needed.
Responsibilities
- Follow the plan for the production and execution of meal preparation, cooking, and packaging.
- Ensure proper storage, preparation, and packaging of meals.
- Ensure preparation of meals is completed according to the timeline set by supervisor.
- Execute daily menu and ensure proper utilization and availability of food stores.
- Supervise and assist in maintaining cleaning of station and entire kitchen.
- Instructs students on culinary techniques and manages instructional time to ensure curriculum is followed and completed by the end of the nine-week session.
- Supervises students in proper techniques and procedures for kitchen sanitation and safety.
- Interact with staff and students in a professional and positive manner that aligns with the core values of the organization.
- Utilize and maintain equipment, report any issues to supervisor.
- Assist in ordering and receiving products with direction from supervisor.
- Ensure kitchen areas are safe, clean, and maintained for use.
- Assist in other kitchen jobs as needed as directed by supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with supervisor and teammates.
- Deliver meals for Kids Cafe.
