About The Position

Life Alive is seeking a Kitchen Manager (KM) to lead their prep team. The KM is responsible for hiring, onboarding, and overseeing the prep team, possessing strong culinary skills and the ability to train and coach. They will run joyful shifts, embodying Life Alive’s culture and standards, and serve as a role model for their team. This role involves developing team members using the prep path tool for progress tracking and consistent coaching. The KM owns the prep and purchasing operation, ensuring quality control by touching, tasting, and correcting to maintain Life Alive’s commitment to whole food and vitality. They will check all orders for freshness and quality, taste scratch-made sauces, soups, and broths for flavor and consistency, and use the Fabrication model to ensure proper prep and stocking each shift. Maintaining Life Alive’s open kitchens and production lines, which handle high volume and significant product daily, requires a keen eye for detail and dedication to standards. This includes upholding daily deep cleans with the prep team, training a “clean as you go” style, and adhering to food safety guidelines with regular audits. The KM is also responsible for managing purchasing and labor in the back of house to ensure optimal product and staffing levels, aligning with sales forecasting and labor budgets. They will manage the prep, dish, and sage schedules within the labor template, develop the team for efficiency to maintain operations within margins, and adhere to the purchase system and declining budget for proper inventory and stocking. Life Alive believes profits are a byproduct of making the right decisions daily.

Requirements

  • 2 years of Kitchen Manager/Head Chef/Sous experience
  • Experience leading a team (>5 people)
  • Experience making schedules & using labor templates
  • Kitchen experience 4+ years
  • History of growth in position
  • Independently motivated

  • Ability to manage through ambiguity

  • Ability to work 9+ hours on your feet multiple days a week

Responsibilities
