About The Position

The Lodge at Historic Lewes is looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager/Executive Chef to help lead our Culinary Services team. In this role, you won't just prepare great food — you'll help create meaningful, memorable dining experiences for the residents who call our community home. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Food Services Sanitation Certificate
  • At least 1 year of relevant experience, including food preparation, full-line menus, and therapeutic diets
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to speak the primary language of residents
  • Ability to read and follow safety guidelines, operating instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A genuine interest in working with and serving a senior population
  • A warm, courteous, and friendly approach with residents, guests, and staff
  • Flexibility to work varying hours as needed
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary apprenticeship or training preferred

Responsibilities

  • Leading the culinary department — setting expectations around cleanliness, training staff on food preparation, and keeping the kitchen organized and running smoothly
  • Hiring, onboarding, and training new kitchen team members
  • Stepping in to lead the department and support the team in the absence of the Culinary Services Director
  • Planning and preparing specials and events that enhance the resident dining experience
  • Preparing food using established recipes, with an eye for timeliness, quality, and consistency
  • Partnering on department goals and driving ongoing quality improvements
  • Determining food and supply needs and coordinating production with meal service times
  • Maintaining food safety documentation, including temperature logs and cleaning schedules
  • Upholding food safety, taste, and quality standards at all times
  • Ensuring proper preparation, portioning, and plating according to menu cycles and recipes
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and health compliance
  • Practicing safety and loss prevention procedures, including proper food storage and label/date checks
  • Overseeing food ordering and inventory
  • Managing daily kitchen line setup and organization
  • Getting to know residents during mealtimes and checking in on their satisfaction
  • Other duties as assigned
