About The Position

The Kitchen Lead will assist the Kitchen Manager (KM) in providing direction, coaching, and leadership for all Back of House (BOH) employees. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen, including food preparation, production, safety, sanitation, and adherence to company policies and procedures. The Kitchen Lead is responsible for delivering an exceptional guest experience through the execution of high-quality food, prepared to recipe specifications within company-approved ticket times. This position also involves managing food freshness through proper purchasing and product rotation using the FIFO method, checking and recording food storage temperatures, and communicating any maintenance issues. The Kitchen Lead will also be responsible for attending training for new menu items and training kitchen staff on their proper preparation, as well as performing daily opening, mid, and closing operational duties. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred
  • Food Certification required
  • Exceptional guest service orientation
  • Equally comfortable communicating and working with guests, peers, subordinates, vendors or partners
  • Standing, walking, lifting, twisting, bending and traversing stairs on a frequent basis
  • Availability to work during holidays, nights, and weekends
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must act with integrity and lead by example

Responsibilities

  • Assist the KM to provide direction, coaching and leadership for all BOH employees (including food preparation and production, safety and sanitation and company policies and procedures)
  • Deliver exceptional guest experience through execution of great food
  • Utilize all tools necessary to ensure quality food is prepared to recipe specification within company approved ticket times
  • Ensure the freshness of food product through proper purchasing and product rotation, utilizing the FIFO method
  • Check food storage and temperatures daily, record the temperatures on the log sheet and notify maintenance of any issues
  • Communicate, implement, and follow up on all changes for food products and kitchen systems and procedures/ if applicable
  • Perform daily opening, mid and closing operation duties
  • Attend trainings for new menu items and train kitchen staff on proper preparation of new menu items
  • Other duties as assigned
