About The Position

The Lead Cook is responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious, high-quality meals for residents in our Assisted Living and Memory Care community. This position leads daily kitchen operations, maintains food safety standards, oversees meal preparation, and ensures an excellent dining experience for approximately 26 residents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience as a cook in healthcare, senior living, assisted living, memory care, or a commercial kitchen preferred.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a kitchen environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and infection control practices.
  • Food Handler Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to prepare meals for approximately 26-36 residents while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Reliable, dependable, and passionate about serving older adults.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to the approved menu.
  • Ensure meals meet residents' dietary needs and physician-ordered modifications.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen in compliance with local and state regulations.
  • Monitor food inventory and communicate supply needs.
  • Receive and properly store food deliveries.
  • Ensure proper food temperatures, storage, and labeling procedures.
  • Assist with menu planning and provide feedback for seasonal or resident-preferred meals.
  • Supervise kitchen workflow and provide guidance to kitchen staff when needed.
  • Maintain all required food safety and sanitation records.
  • Collaborate with caregivers and leadership to ensure an exceptional dining experience.
  • Follow all company policies and health department regulations.
  • Work a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed.
