About The Position

Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) has an opening for one (1) Full time Kitchen Incubator Facility Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations and physical management of the Cypress Hills Community Kitchen. This is a hands-on role suited for a proactive, detail-oriented, and solution-oriented professional with extensive experience in restaurant or commercial kitchen operations. The Facility Manager will ensure that the kitchen environment is safe, clean, code-compliant, and fully functional for CHLDC staff and the food entrepreneurs participating in our incubator program. The Facility Manager will report directly to the Senior Director of Business Services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Hospitality or related field preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of NYC business regulatory environment for food businesses.
  • Restaurant and/or food establishment facility management experience is a strong plus.
  • Proactive, professional, and solution-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish, Bengali, or Mandarin) preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and to office procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the Cypress Hills Community Kitchen, including staff accountability, ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe functioning of all kitchen spaces and shared equipment.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related questions, concerns, and issues raised by kitchen users and CHLDC staff.
  • Establish, monitor, and enforce rigorous daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules and sanitation protocols in compliance with NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene standards.
  • Conduct regular walkthroughs and audits of the kitchen facility to ensure adherence to safety, sanitation, and operational standards.
  • Prepare the kitchen facility for inspections by city agencies including, but not limited to, the NYC Department of Health, NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets, NYC Fire Department, and NYC Department of Buildings.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all applicable health codes, fire codes, and food safety regulations, and ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Proactively identify, report, and address maintenance issues including plumbing, HVAC, electrical systems, commercial equipment, and general facility infrastructure.
  • Coordinate and oversee repairs with vendors, contractors, and building management, ensuring timely and cost-effective resolution.
  • Proactively communicate and enforce all kitchen use policies with incubator members, addressing violations promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain kitchen scheduling systems & troubleshooting issues for incubator members on The Food Corridor.
  • Ensure the safe and ethical operation of the Kitchen Incubator program.
  • Represent CHLDC professionally to all stakeholders including elected officials, city agencies, houses of worship, and all community stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate commitment to leadership development, community building, and community organizing as strategies for social change.
